VetSITREP Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
VetSITREP ("the App") is developed by Veteran Solutions LLC ("we," "us," "our," "the Company"). This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, how it is protected, and the choices you have.
What information the App accesses
When you sign in to VetSITREP, you authenticate directly with VA.gov using your existing Login.gov or ID.me credentials. We never see or store your VA.gov username or password. Once signed in, the App requests read-only access to the following information from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' official Lighthouse APIs, on your behalf:
- Your name and a VA-issued identifier (from your VA.gov identity)
- Disability compensation claims status and history
- Appeals status and history (both AMA and Legacy Appeals)
- Previously decided issues that may still be eligible for appeal
- Service history, disability rating, and veteran status
We do not collect your geolocation, financial information, contacts, photos, or any information beyond what is listed above. Some of the information above (such as disability ratings and medical diagnostic codes) is health-related information. This is the core purpose of the App: to show you your own VA benefits status in one place.
How your information is used and stored
VetSITREP is a client-only app. There is no VetSITREP server that receives, stores, or has access to your VA data. Your device communicates directly and securely (HTTPS) with VA's own servers. Your VA.gov sign-in tokens are stored only on your device, encrypted using your device's secure hardware storage (Android Keystore), and are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Your information is used solely to display your claims, appeals, and benefits information to you within the App, for your own account management and to operate the App's core functionality. We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or analytics of any kind.
Signing out, or your session timing out after 15 minutes of inactivity, clears these tokens from your device and also revokes them with VA's servers, so they can no longer be used.
Data retention and deletion
Because VetSITREP has no server and stores nothing outside your own device, we do not retain your VA data anywhere under our control, and there is no "dormant account" for us to hold data on — uninstalling the App or signing out removes everything stored on your device immediately.
If you would like written confirmation of deletion, or have any question about what the App accesses, email privacy@veteransolutionstx.com. We will confirm and respond within 45 days of your request, consistent with VA's data deletion requirements, though in practice there is no company-held copy of your data to delete beyond what you already control on your own device.
Data sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information or VA data, for profit or any other monetary transaction. We do not share it with any third party, including marketers, advertisers, or partners — including de-identified, anonymized, or pseudonymized versions of it. We have no advertising or analytics integrations in the App. Because we do not collect any genetic or family-history information, there is no sharing of that kind of data to address.
We do not use any third-party vendors or contractors who process your data on our behalf. If that ever changes, any such vendor or contractor would be held to the same commitments described in this policy, and this policy would be updated to name them before that use began.
The App connects only to official U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Lighthouse APIs — VA's production environment (api.va.gov) once production access is granted, and VA's sandbox/testing environment (developer.va.gov) during development — and VA's Login.gov / ID.me identity providers for sign-in. Only the production environment can return a real veteran's data; the sandbox environment returns VA-provided test data only, never anything belonging to an actual user. Your use of these services is also governed by VA's own privacy policies at va.gov/privacy-policy.
Data breach notification
Because no VA data is ever stored on any server we control, the App's exposure to a server-side data breach is extremely limited. If we ever become aware of a security incident that compromises information covered by this policy, we will notify affected users by email at the address associated with their account or app-store review, without unreasonable delay, along with instructions for any further action you can take.
Change of ownership
If Veteran Solutions LLC is ever acquired, merges with another company, or otherwise transfers ownership of VetSITREP, we will notify users of the change. Because the App does not retain a company-held copy of your VA data, you will always retain full control of it simply by choosing whether to continue using the App. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the new owner's privacy practices are consistent with this policy, or notify you clearly so you can choose to stop using the App and remove it from your device, which fully removes any locally-stored data.
Children's privacy
VetSITREP is intended for use by veterans and other individuals authorized to sign in with a VA.gov-linked account, and is not marketed or directed at children generally. We recognize that a small number of legitimate users may be 16 or 17 years old — for example, a minor who has entered military service with parental consent or who has been emancipated by a court — and who has their own VA.gov-linked account. In those cases, the App accesses only the same information described above, in the same way, directly from VA's own systems. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from any minor who does not have their own valid VA.gov-linked account.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date, and, for material changes, notify users through the App itself.
